FAQs – Vendor

Q. Can I have a copy of the report?
A. Reports are provided for the client only and will not be sent to any third parties without the express written consent of the client.

Q. How will I know the surveyor is who they say they are?
A. It is perfectly acceptable to ask surveyors to provide some form of identification to prove who they are; however, all our surveyors are issued with identification badges which they are encouraged to show on the day.

Q. Will I have to wait in all day for the surveyor?
A. No, surveys are booked in for either morning or afternoon appointments. The length of time the surveyor will need to spend in the property depends on the type of report instructed, as well as the size and condition of the property.

Q. I am not happy with the content of the report, can I complain?
A. We can only discuss the content of the report and/or our reporting procedures with our client who has purchased the survey.

Q. The surveyor has asked for certificates, why is this?
A. Any certificates provided will be taken into consideration by the surveyor and may aid in their findings. This could also save time at a later date.

Q. Do I have to do anything to aid the surveyor’s inspection?
A. We ask that you make all areas of the property as accessible as possible, this may include making sure all doors are unlocked (or provide keys) and/or moving any items of large furniture impeding access (e.g. a piano placed in front of the door to cellar).

Q. Will the property be left as it was?
A. Yes, the survey is a visual inspection and apart from opening doors, loft hatches etc., no elements in the property will be disturbed or moved.

Q. Can I ask the surveyor questions during his visit?
A. The report is a confidential document and as such the surveyor will not be able to discuss any findings with you.
